I am often asked why I like being a cop.  I like being a cop because I have the opportunity to impact peoples lives in a positive way.  People don’t call police when they are happy and having a good day – we see people at their worst.  It is at this point that a law enforcement officer has a chance to either resolve and calm a situation or exacerbate it.  I decided that for me, it is the opportunity to be a point of stability in a tumultuous point in someone’s life. That point could fundamentally alter the future of that person, so I don’t take it lightly.

There are two perspectives in law enforcement when dealing with the public that I have experienced:

1. Everyone is an a-hole and trying to kill me.

2. 90% of people are good people having a bad day, the other 10% just can’t get it right.

I subscribe to the number two perspective, and as such I get in fewer fights, resolve issues for the better of all parties and try to instill some positive perceptions of law enforcement.

These pages will express my beliefs, studies, and ideas for and about law enforcement.
